I've been with Biddulph Valley Surgery for 33 years since I was a baby and they did great with me and my family. And Dr Lightfoot who is my GP she's has always understood my condition. I give Biddulph Valley Surgery 5 stars ***** :)
Thank you to the nurse who helped me put the focus back on my well being yesterday...very useful information!
On phone from 4.00 till 5.55 no answer to the phone call live at the side of the 10 million waste of money health centre so went up the road to the centre all of a three minute walk not a sole in there waiting two receptionist sitting there.
Takes ages to get an appointment, start at 8am and keep pressing redial until you get the on hold message, then you have to dodge the "trained receptionist" who basically wants to get you to see a nurse, based on your description of your illness, which, without your full medical history, is not feasible. If you can finally get to see a doctor, they are really good, it's the getting in that's the hard part. I have had friends call ambulances as their condition was getting worse due to lack of appointments. Really need to replace those 2 GP's who left and overhaul the appointments system.
On 26/09/2016 my mother received a request from the anticoagulant department of the Royal Stoke hospital to provide a sample of blood that would be used to determine her continued use of warfarin. The sample was required prior to 05/10/2016 as she would be contacted on that date by that department and her case discussed. She was told that it was important for her to ensure that the sample was obtained and forwarded by a relevant practitioner prior to the above date.As she had an existing appointment on 29/09/2016 regarding another matter at Biddulph Valley surgery it seemed an ideal situation to have the sample taken by a doctor at the same time and a good use of the time available to the doctor. When a personal enquiry was made at the surgery on 27/09/2016 we were informed that no person including the doctor for the existing appointment would be available to obtain the sample.I am aware that funding for blood tests was withdrawn in 2015 but this simple situation should not be happening in a fully functioning health centre. Why is there no facility for blood samples to be taken some12 months after the situation arose? Are there no nurses that could complete what is a basic task? This is one of a number of issues that I have with the surgery and how it is run and having read the contents of the previous reviews, most of which are unanswered it is a recurring theme.
